Final amendments to the Charter of the French Language regulations were published today. With the final regulations, companies will no longer be required to translate non-French product packaging inscriptions and websites into French. The final regulations do still require translation of generic/descriptive terms present in non-French trademarks.

These regulations will come into force on Jun. 01, 2025. Any existing products, that are manufactured before Jun. 01, 2025 and have no French version of a trademark registered as of today, may continue to be distributed through to Jun. 01, 2027.

Please do reach out to us if you have any specific questions on these regulations.
