Manufacturers of licensed Class II, III and IV medical devices marketed in Canada are reminded that the annual Medical Device Licence (MDL) renewal deadline is November 1, 2026. Manufacturers must submit the required renewal information to Health Canada before this date to confirm that their licence information remains current and that the device will continue to be marketed in Canada.

Health Canada typically sends renewal packages early in August. Manufacturers or their regulatory correspondents who have not yet received their package should contact Health Canada. Following renewal, invoices are generally issued in December and are payable within 30 days. Failure to renew by the November 1 deadline may result in cancellation of the MDL, meaning the device can no longer be offered for sale in Canada.
